Round, on four legs that plant wide at the floor.
A corral is round because everyone works the rail. Same idea here — no head of the table, nobody stuck at an end, and one more person is a matter of pulling up a chair rather than rearranging the room.
Most tables taper the other way — narrow at the bottom, so the piece looks light. This one doesn’t. The four legs splay out as they drop, planted, and the table reads braced rather than balanced. It’s the table you picture in a chow hall: solid, and built to be eaten at every day by people who aren’t being careful.
Honest notes
- Four legs under a round top means chairs go between them, not anywhere you like. Count the gaps, not the circumference, when you’re working out how many will fit.
- The legs are wider at the floor than at the top, so the footprint down there is almost as big as the tabletop.
- Give it two weeks before you’re rough with it. The oil finish takes fourteen days to cure — keep it dry and out of direct sun until then.
- Oak takes stain and we offer four finishes. Maple and walnut are finished natural, because they’re better that way.
