There is no hard corner anywhere on this table.
The legs are round and tapered, and where each one meets the top the two are joined by a continuous concave curve instead of a joint line. That curve is a cove, and cutting it is the slowest thing we do. The corners of the top are rounded to match it, and a shadow line runs under the edge so the top reads as floating rather than sitting.
It was drawn for walnut. The cove catches light along its length, and in a dark wood that edge is the whole design. In the pale oaks it reads much softer — still good, but a quieter table.
Honest notes
- The curves are why this one costs more than the plainer tables. If the shape isn’t what you want, the Plain is the same table without them, for less.
- Rounded corners mean the last few inches at each end aren’t square. You lose a little usable surface at the very ends.
- Give it two weeks before you’re rough with it. The oil finish takes fourteen days to cure — keep it dry and out of direct sun until then.
- Oak takes stain and we offer four finishes. Maple and walnut are finished natural, because they’re better that way.
