A round top on a base with no curves in it at all.
The Brazos base is straight lines and angles the whole way down. Putting a circle on top is the whole idea — the top softens what is underneath without either one pretending to be the other.
Each end is a trapezoid — two uprights splaying outward to a foot on the floor, with the middle left open. A low stretcher runs between the two ends and ties the whole thing together. That is the Brazos: the weight sits at the ends and the middle is air.
Scaled down to sit beside a chair and hold what a chair needs beside it.
Honest notes
- Round means no corner to catch a hip in a walkway, which is usually where an end table lives.
- The frames splay outward, so the footprint on the floor is narrower than the top. Measure the floor if it is going into a tight gap.
- A lamp, a drink, a book. It is an end table and it is not built to be sat on.
- Give it two weeks before you’re rough with it. The oil finish takes fourteen days to cure — keep it dry and out of direct sun until then.
- Oak takes stain and we offer four finishes. Maple and walnut are finished natural, because they’re better that way.
