Four legs in four-by-four stock, straight down from the corners. Square edges on the top. Almost every other table we build has a curve somewhere in it and this one refuses on principle.
The result is a table that looks like what it is: a lot of solid hardwood, arranged at right angles.
Honest notes
Four-by-four legs at the corners take up real space at the corners. Chairs go between them.
It’s heavy, and it’s meant to be.
Give it two weeks before you’re rough with it. The oil finish takes fourteen days to cure — keep it dry and out of direct sun until then.
Oak takes stain and we offer four finishes. Maple and walnut are finished natural.
Solid wood moves. Seasonal change across the width is expected, not a fault.
The large tops get a steel C-channel brace underneath. It adds real stiffness and it keeps a wide panel from cupping over the years — you won’t see it unless you look.
